Report: Johnny Manziel to be Active for Browns vs. Ravens

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

With the Cleveland Browns having demoted QB Johnny Manziel from starter to No. 3 on the depth chart leading up to tonight's game against the Baltimore Ravens, the belief was that Manziel would probably be inactive for the game as well. According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Plain Dealer, Manziel will be active tonight:

If Manziel is indeed active, it's somewhat of an odd message the team is sending because it'd feel like they aren't seeing the punishment all the way through for the second-year quarterback lying to the organization last week. The Browns have had three quarterbacks active for one game this year (against San Diego in Week 4), but that was almost by default as the team had six players who were out with injuries.

Heading into tonight's game, the Browns have five players who are likely out with injuries. If the bad attitude of CB Justin Gilbert continues, that might be six players, leaving the decision down to Manziel and somebody else. It sounds like Manziel might get that nod.
