On Tuesday, Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine began his press conference by announcing that starting quarterback Josh McCown will miss the remainder of the season with a broken collarbone. He will not require surgery and is under contract with the club through the 2017 season.
Who will replace McCown? Pettine said that he would not announce a decision today, but would discuss the quarterback situation on Wednesday, when an announcement will likely be made. Pettine's options this Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals come down to Johnny Manziel or Austin Davis. Is Manziel's punishment still going to carry over for another game (and possibly the rest of the season)? Will Davis' near-heroic comeback in relief of McCown earn him a further look?
McCown was a warrior for the Browns, completing 63.7% of his passes for 2,109 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions in 8 games. The one knock on him is that he did lose 6 fumbles, but he undoubtedly earned the respect of many fans for consistently trying to persevere at a rather high level through the beatings he was being subjected to.
Who do you want to start the rest of the season, and who do you think will start the rest of the season? Vote in the poll below!
