On Saturday, the Cleveland Browns announced that they have promoted WR Darius Jennings from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. To make room for Jennings, the team waived OL Darrian Miller.
What does the move mean for Sunday's game against the Bengals?
- You don't make a move on Saturday unless you expect the player to be active on gameday, so Jennings should see receiving reps against Cincinnati since WR Taylor Gabriel and WR Andrew Hawkins are out with concussions.
- The Browns went with four receivers on the roster last week (Travis Benjamin, Brian Hartline, Marlon Moore, and Dwayne Bowe). All four were active against Baltimore, but Bowe barely played. I'd expect him to be inactive this week.
- Cleveland also signed WR Terrelle Pryor again this week. He's probably not ready to contribute, so he'll be inactive. If Bowe is inactive like I project, then Jennings would either be the No. 3 or No. 4 receiver. I think he'll end up being the No. 3 receiver, because he's probably built up some chemistry with QB Austin Davis the past few weeks since they were both low on the depth chart.
- Because the Browns cut their spare offensive lineman (Miller), that's a sign that LG Joel Bitonio should be healthy enough to start again.
