According to a report by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, there is mutual interest between WR Cecil Shorts III and the Cleveland Browns to bring the receiver home. Shorts was a 4th round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2011. He went to Collinwood High School and calls Cleveland his home.
After basically being red-shirted in his rookie season, Shorts had a breakout year in 2012, emerging as a No. 1 receiving threat for the Jaguars with 55 catches for 979 yards and 7 touchdowns. His production wasn't too bad in 2013, but his playing time took a hit in 2014 as he had 53 catches for 557 yards and 1 touchdown in a struggling offense as a couple of younger receivers began taking reps away from him.
Shorts is probably more like a good No. 2 receiver, but if Cleveland is looking to address the position this offseason, he's probably the type of player who could be bought without breaking the bank.
