Browns schedule pre-draft visit with safety prospect Damarious Randall

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

According to the Akron Beacon Journal's Nate Ulrich, the Browns will meet with free safety prospect Damarious Randall:

Details of the time and location of this visit are unknown as of yet.

NFL Draft Scout ranks him as the 2015 NFL Draft's #2 free safety prospect and has him as a borderline 2nd-to-3rd round pick. Lance Zierlein at NFL.com has him tied for the 5th best safety in the draft.

Oh, and Randall has one very familiar face on the current Browns roster: cornerback Robert Nelson. He and Nelson were teammates in Arizona State's secondary for one year (2013) after Randall transferred in from Mesa Community College, according to their respective bios at Sun Devil Athletics.

The Browns already have two safeties that had Pro Bowl seasons in 2014, but it wouldn't hurt to improve the depth chart by adding a young, talented safety to groom behind them. Also, according to Zierlein some teams view him as a corner. It's possible the Browns are one of those teams.
