The Cleveland Browns signed CB Charles Gaines on Monday, one day after the conclusion of rookie minicamp. Taken in the 6th round at No. 189 overall, Telfer agreed to a four-year deal. According to OverTheCap's pre-determined draft chart, Telfer's contract will be worth about $2.402 million, with a $122,136 signing bonus.
Gaines was the team's eighth selection of the draft, and the first of three picks made in the sixth round. He is 5-10, 180-pounds, and played college football at Louisville. He will wear No. 43 with the Browns and is expected to enter the offseason programs as the sixth cornerback on the depth chart, behind Joe Haden, Tramon Williams, K'Waun Williams, Justin Gilbert, and Pierre Desir. Gaines will also reportedly be in the mix for the team's kick returner job, along with Gilbert and RB Duke Johnson.
