The NFL continues to slowly reveal the remaining players on their Top 100 players list of 2015, as voted on by fellow players. Near the end of May, we saw Cleveland Browns free safety Tashaun Gipson crack the list at No. 67. We're now mid-way through June, and the NFL has revealed the list through spot No. 41. There haven't been any other Browns named to the Top 100, so how many will fall into the Top 40?
I don't think we have to worry about LT Joe Thomas missing out. He was voted No. 18 in 2014, and that list for 2015 would turn out to be a complete farce if it were completed without him. The player who might be questionable for the list is CB Joe Haden.
I think Haden will ultimately still make the list. Assuming he makes it, though, I'm a little surprised that it'll be in the Top 40. Last year, Haden was voted No. 39. Although he finished the season strong, Haden got off to a slow start in 2014, which was enough to leave him outside of Pro Football Focus' list of the Top 5 players on the current Browns. CBS Sports' Pete Prisco also left Haden off his list of Top 100 players completely.
In terms of other players who I think deserve to make the Top 100 but will not are OG Joel Bitonio and C Alex Mack. Bitonio might be a little understandable to be left off, as I'd expect his fellow players to make him prove himself for another year before labeling him as a top guard in the NFL. When it comes to Mack, though, not many centers are better and the dropoff in Cleveland's running game after his injury last year was remarkable.
Let us know where, if at all, you think Thomas and Haden will ultimately be ranked, Browns fans!
