WR Terrelle Pryor, OLB Nate Orchard to Miss 3rd Preseason Game

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Browns announced that WR Terrelle Pryor (hamstring) and OLB Nate Orchard (back) will miss this week's preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It's disappointing to see both players out of action for the dress rehearsal game of the preseason.

For Pryor, this seemed to be the opportunity for him to show what he's made of as a wide receiver after already having missed the first two preseason games. He did practice earlier this week, but with the gloomy weather and a threat of rain, perhaps the coaches don't want Pryor to re-aggravate his injury if he's not quite there yet. Assuming he survives the first round of cuts, the plan should now be to give him extensive playing time this Thursday against the Chicago Bears.

Orchard's back injury comes as a surprise, as this is the first that anybody had heard anything about it. Orchard made strides last week and I thought he could be a threat to replace Scott Solomon as a starting outside linebacker, but now this would seem to lock in Solomon's starting role a bit more.

On the bright side of things, RB Duke Johnson is still expected to make his debut tonight.
