What to Expect at the Cleveland Browns' Scrimmage in Columbus & How to Watch

Browns.com

The Cleveland Browns will host their annual Orange & Brown Scrimmage at the Ohio State University in Columbus, OH from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, August 7th, 2015. Gates will open at 4:30 PM, but fan entertainment will take place from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM outside of St. John Arena. The Browns made 70,000 tickets available and they went quickly.

How to Watch?

The full scrimmage will not be streamed live. However, the NFL Network will be running a 1-hour special from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The program, titled "Inside Training Camp Live with the Browns," will be hosted by Mike Mayock and Solomon Wilcots. There is expected to be a mix of highlights and commentary during the one-hour special.

Then, from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the network is airing "Training Camp Primetime with the Browns," where the network will provide more highlights and some interviews with Browns players and/or coaches.

Scrimmage Details

  • There will be some 1-on-1 and 7-on-7 drills, but the primary action is supposed to be close to a game-like atmosphere with the first-teamers vs. first-teamers, second-teamers vs. second teamers, and third-teamers vs. third-teamers in 11-on-11 drills.

  • This will be one of the first times we get a more clear look at the depth chart leading up to the first official release of the depth chart prior to next week's preseason game. However, there could be a few exceptions, such as head coach Mike Pettine indicating that QB Johnny Manziel might see some reps with the first-team offense. Some players will be moved around due to injuries too.

  • The team is expected to be in full pads with live tackling.

  • Per Browns.com, it is expected that there will be a kicking competition at halftime between Carey Spear and Travis Coons. Up until this point, the Browns really haven't utilized the kickers in camp. In fact, it seems like we've seen more offensive and defensive linemen doing kicks than the actual kickers.

Weather Forecast

Last year in Akron, rain cut the scrimmage short. Weather will not be a factor tonight, though:
