The Cleveland Browns announced four more roster moves on Tuesday to officially bring their roster to 75 players. All teams were required to cut their rosters to 75 players prior to 4:00 PM ET on Tuesday. Previously, the Browns had made several roster moves on Monday, and then several more Tuesday morning.
Players Terminated
- NT Phil Taylor - This is a pretty big stunner, as it seemed like the team could use him in a limited backup role this season to split reps with rookie NT Danny Shelton. It would also seem that this locks up a roster spot for NT Jamie Meder, who has had an impressive past couple of weeks as a backup.
Taylor won't be out any money, as his $5.477 million contract this year is fully guaranteed. There is no offset language on the contract, so Taylor will be able to double dip with whatever team he signs with next.
Players Waived
- FB Luke Lundy - He suffered two concussions this camp, so it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up being waived/injured.
- NT Ishmaa'ily Kitchen - Kitchen was in his fourth year with the club and had the best season of his career in 2014, registering 43 tackles and making three starts. Kitchen became expendable and caught up in the numbers game at the defensive line position. I would be stunned if another team did not add him to their 53-man roster before the start of the 2015 season.
- K Carey Spear - He was in a camp-long competition with fellow youngster Travis Coons, and it appears as though Coons has won the kicking job for now. Both kickers have basically been perfect throughout camp and the preseason, although I honestly don't recall Coons missing any kicks. Fans had a rooting interest in Spear, a native of Mayfield, OH who had the nickname of "Murderleg."
