The Cleveland Browns have named the following players inactive for today's game against the New York Jets:
QB Austin Davis
RB Robert Turbin
WR Dwayne Bowe
TE E.J. Bibbs
OLB Nate Orchard
DL Xavier Cooper
CB Justin Gilbert
We first started speculating about Bowe being inactive Saturday night on Twitter, and then Ian Rapoport reported Sunday morning that he was expected to be inactive. Although he played in the team's final preseason game, he was limited all week in practice and listed as questionable leading up to the game.
OLB Nate Orchard and DL Xavier Cooper, second- and third-round picks, respectively, are both inactive. Orchard isn't a big surprise as he is coming off of a back injury. Cooper is somewhat of a surprise after an effective preseason, although we knew one of the team's defensive linemen would have to be inactive.
OLB Barkevious Mingo is active after missing most of camp and the preseason with knee surgery.
