We’ve already said that the Cleveland Browns did not trade away any of their players before the deadline on Tuesday. According to Ed Werder of ESPN, though, at least one team was making somewhat of a push for CB Joe Haden: the New Orleans Saints.
#Saints made play for #Browns CB Joe Haden before #NFL trade deadline but determined price was too high, per sources

Werder later said that the Saints were simply “doing their due diligence” with respect to Haden:
One high-level #Saints source characterizes team's interest in #Browns CB Joe Haden as being mostly due diligence. Injuries, salary issues

It’s unclear what the Browns asked in return for Haden (though we can be certain that it was not OLB Paul Kruger). It sounds like the Saints put a feeler out to Cleveland to see if they were willing to more or less dump Haden to them for next to nothing, and that wasn’t the case.
