Both teams combined to start the game with seven punts, but then RB Isaiah Crowell fumbled to give the Giants great field position. Two plays later, QB Eli Manning hit WR Dwayne Harris for a 13-yard touchdown pass to give the Giants a 7-0 lead.
After the Browns punted on their next possession, RB Bobby Rainey of the Giants muffed it, allowing Cleveland to recover with great field position of their own. However, they could not convert in the red zone and had to settle for a 20-yard field goal to draw to within 7-3. Inside of two minutes, Manning found WR Victor Cruz on a big play and then WR Odell Beckham beat CB Joe Haden on a crossing route for a 32-yard touchdown to go up 14-3. The Browns put together their own quick drive, but similarly could only manage a 25-yard field goal at the final gun.
Cleveland trails 14-6 heading to the third quarter.
