Given the choice between veteran Josh McCown and rookie Cody Kessler, head coach Hue Jackson has picked Kessler to start this week’s game against the Dallas Cowboys, and presumably the rest of the season (health permitting).
McCown returned and started last week from a shoulder injury he suffered in Week 2. He was thrust back into the starting role only because Kessler had suffered a concussion in Week 7. Kessler was cleared to practice after last week’s game, and will return to the starting lineup after showing good poise under pressure up to this point.
During his press conference Friday around noon, Jackson stated it was tough to send McCown back to the bench, but with two first-round picks in 2017, it’s important for he and the organization to be able to fully evaluate what they have in Kessler:
#Browns HC Hue Jackson said Cody Kessler has some uncanny ability, moxie, poise, done some good things, but gotta do it consistently

#Browns HC Hue Jackson said let's find out if QB Cody Kessler can play well consistently, find out more about what we have in him

#Browns HC Hue Jackson: Cody Kessler playing b/c we need to know if he can be our QB of future, not saying we won't draft 1 if he plays well

What do you think, Browns fans? Are you glad that Kessler is starting over McCown?
