On Tuesday, 88 players were named to the 2017Pro Bowl, including one member of the Cleveland Browns: LT Joe Thomas. This year’s Pro Bowl will take place on January 29, 2017 at 8pm ET, ESPN, in Orlando.
Joe Thomas
- This is the tenth straight Pro Bowl that Thomas has been named to. He made it as a starter.
- After previously being tied with Hall of Fame RB Jim Brown and K Lou Groza for the most Pro Bowl appearances by a member of the Browns, he’s now surpassed both of them for the most appearances.
- The only player with more consecutive Pro Bowls to begin his career in NFL history would be DT Merlin Olsen with fourteen.
Other Notes
- No other member of the Browns registered high enough on the fan votes, and with the team being 0-14, the odds of players and coaches vouching for them weren’t very good.
- Somehow, CB Joe Haden has been named a Pro Bowl alternate.
- Terrelle Pryor might be the best offensive player on the Browns, but 67 catches for 877 yards and 4 touchdowns doesn’t jump off the page at you that he has to be a Pro Bowler.
- Danny Shelton is having a great year when you look at PFF metrics, but that wasn’t enough to tip the scale in his favor for some Pro Bowl love.
