Peter King Says the Browns Could Have an Interest in QB Brock Osweiler

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

After winning the Super Bowl yesterday, the Denver Broncos face a pretty unique situation at quarterback. On one hand, you have Peyton Manning, who will still be under contract for a lot of money but seems poised to retire in the coming weeks. On the other hand, you have Brock Osweiler, who finally got to play this year, but wasn't trusted with the reigns come playoff time and will be a free agent. Could the Broncos just try to find a new quarterback entirely?

One note that seemed to come out of left field this morning is via MMQB's Peter King, who says that he heard some buzz that if Osweiler becomes a free agent, the Broncos think Hue Jackson and the Cleveland Browns will go after him:

I think one little bit of free-agency buzz I heard here is the Broncos won’t be surprised if Browns coach Hue Jackson does more than just sniff around Brock Osweiler. Cleveland is in an interesting spot, picking second in the first round with a cadre of interesting but not lock college quarterbacks on the board. They’re surely not prepared to know what they’ll do a month from now in free-agency, but if Jackson is shaky on Jared Goff and Paxton Lynch and Carson Wentz, maybe Cleveland will look at a reasonably priced (or so you would think) prospect like Osweiler.

It's not out-of-the-question that the Browns pass on a quarterback at No. 2 overall if they feel like the hype the prospects have received the past few weeks doesn't match the magnitude of the pick they have. In Osweiler's first real action as a pro, he threw for 10 touchdowns and 6 interceptions in 7 games, helping lead the Broncos to a 5-2 record during that span. Of course, that record came with the assistance of the best defense in the NFL.

What would you think of Osweiler brockcoming to Cleveland?
