Browns Host Free Agent ILB Demario Davis, Formerly of the Jets

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

According to Kimberley Martin, a Jets beat writer for Newsday, the Cleveland Browns have hosted ILB Demario Davis for a visit.

Although the team did re-sign ILB Tank Carder before free agency, they appear primed to let ILB Craig Robertson walk and are looking to revamp the depth at the position behind Karlos Dansby and Christian Kirksey, who are currently penciled in as starters for 2016. They already signed ILB Justin Tuggle last Friday, so what is Davis' background?

Davis was a third-round pick by the Jets in 2012, a team he has spent the past four years with. He's played in all 64 games of his career, and has been a starter for the past three years. Davis had 107 tackles in 2013, 116 tackles in 2014, and 90 tackles in 2015. In terms of ability, he sounds a lot like the Andra Davis' and D'Qwell Jackson's of the world -- they aren't going to make high-impact plays, but they'll be on the field for every snap and will be stable enough to get by with.
