2016 NFL Mock Draft: Houston Texans Select WR Corey Coleman at No. 22

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

With the No. 22 pick in the 2016 DBN Community NFL Mock Draft, the Houston Texans select...

Corey Coleman, WR, Baylor

The selection and write-up were made by Royce Groff:

Doing my best imitation of wisdom concerning the draft - and since I don’t have the option of trading back with the Browns so they can draft at their coveted #22 position, I looked at the roster of the Texans, and immediately decided I needed to consult some Professional Scouts who specialize in tracking the Texans Draft needs.

They alerted me to the fact that they lost 2 interior linemen this offseason (which I wouldn’t have otherwise known) and the mentioned that they had an interest in possibly a TE - which I had identified myself as being a possibility. But when all the discussion was done, it boiled down to a choice of two players:

"There are only two choices for your pick as far as we are concerned - Corey Coleman or Vernon Butler. If Coleman isn’t there, take Butler. If Butler isn’t there, take Coleman. If neither are there, trade back. If you can’t trade back, take Coleman or Butler"

Oddly - I found myself in uncharted territory: Both of these desired players are on the board!

However, Since they have a Shiny New High Priced Signal caller (and having dispensed with the QB Competition - Hoyer) I have chosen to go with buying the QB a New Toy for his game:

Thus the first round pick, #22, of the Houston Texans in the 2016 DBNNFL Draft is Corey Coleman. From the CBSSPORTS page:

"Coleman is an exciting playmaker with his ability as a vertical threat and catch-and-go receiver. He has quick hands to pluck the ball away from his body with the coordination and leaping ability to play above the rim, making natural adjustments on the ball. He's an aggressive-minded competitor who needs only one step to accelerate to top speed. Great ability after the catch with elite footwork to make the first man miss before hitting the gas and accelerating to top speed in a wink."

Coleman should make a good pairing with the Texans DeAndre Hopkins, and provide a useful weapon for the New QB Osweiler.

The Minnesota Vikings are up next, led by MissinTheVicius.
