2016 NFL Mock Draft: Cincinnati Bengals Select S Karl Joseph at No. 24

Ben Queen-USA TODAY Sports

With the No. 24 pick in the 2016 DBN Community NFL Mock Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select...

Karl Joseph, S, West Virginia

The selection and write-up were made by OhioCityBrownsBeliever:

With Paul Brown, Pete Brown, and Katie Blackburn in Cincinnati, it's a family affair for the Bengals.  Add in the experience and judgment of Duke Tobin, and the Bengals have done a fantastic job through the draft recently.  The Bengals are a talented team and draft the right way.  They did lose a lot of unrestricted free agents this offseason, including wide receivers Marvin Jones and Mohammad Sanu leaving them with a need at the wide receiver position.  Need and talent would have intersected here had Doctson or Coleman fallen to this pick.  However, the Texans and Vikings snatched those players right before our pick, sending us back to the board.

Under serious consideration here were Jonathan Bullard and Vernon Butler, both extremely talented interior defensive lineman that provide good value here.  However, there is one player available that will give the Browns and other AFC North opponents nightmares for years to come and that player is Karl Joseph.

So with the 24th pick of the draft the Bengals select safety Karl Joseph.  Joseph started at West Virginia as a true freshman and has been a team captain in Morgantown for the past 3 years.  I think he can challenge Jalen Ramsey as the best safety in this class and there is nothing he doesn't do well.  He will start immediately next to George Iloka and will probably move over to SS in the future.  Joseph can cover, has speed, provides run support, has great instincts, is a ball-hawking play maker, is a bone-crushing tackler, and the most physical player in this draft.  The only question with Joseph is the medicals as he suffered a season-ending injury in October in a non-contact drill.  But we're confident in the medicals and Joseph is expected to be 100% by training camp.  This guy is a perennial pro-bowler.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are up next, led by Legoman0721.
