2016 NFL Mock Draft: Cleveland Browns Select QB Connor Cook at No. 32

Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

With the No. 32 pick in the 2016 DBN Community NFL Mock Draft, the Cleveland Browns select...

Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State

The selection and write-up were made by Adam Rice:

As Day 2 opens on the NFL Draft, Browns fans are very worried about the brand new front office. After trading down and bypassing on the Top 2 QBs in the draft, they selected talented, but medically terrifying Myles Jack from UCLA to hopefully anchor the middle of the defense. Now many Browns fans are left wondering where the team goes from here. Do they address the lack of speed and skill on the outside and select one of the remaining WRs? Or do they get someone to terrorize Dalton, Flacco and Roethlisberger for years to come in the form of a dynamic pass rusher. Neither of these will be the case, however, as the Browns will address the position that has given them the most problems since their less than stellar return in 1999.

With the 32nd pick in the 2016 DBN Community NFL Mock Draft, the Cleveland Browns will select Connor Cook, Quarterback, Michigan State University.

Let's face it, the Browns have to get this position settled once and for all. And I believe Cook has the necessary skills and experience to get it done. That's not to say that RGCLE can't resurrect his career in The Land, but his presence alone doesn't move me away from selecting a QB with what would normally be a 1st round pick. Cook possesses the ideal size that many teams are looking for, and is a better athlete than many realize. He posted both a Top 5 40 yard dash and a Top 5 vertical at the Combine.

While at MSU, Cook was asked to do many of the same things he'll be asked from an NFL team. He has experience making checks at the line, reading defenses from the perspective of a pro-style offense, instead of a more simplified spread as well as having familiarity with a pro route tree. He has a plus arm and can make all the throws, both with velocity and touch. He's also familiar with read option concepts that I'm sure Hue will utilize now that Griffin is here in Cleveland.

While not without warts, his issues are fixable and I believe a staff that has Hue Jackson, Al Saunders and Pep Hamilton all have the experience to help Cook reach his ceiling in the NFL.

That concludes our 2016 DBN Community Mock Draft! Thanks to everybody who participated. The full results of the mock are below.
