Browns Draft CB Trey Caldwell at No. 173 Overall to End the Fifth Round

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

With the No. 173 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns selected CB Trey Caldwell of UL-Monroe. He was the team's fourth and final selection in the fifth round.

Cleveland's cornerback situation was awful last year, despite the talent they had on paper. Looking forward to this season, Joe Haden is still in the long-term plans but just had ankle surgery. Veteran Tramon Williams is still on the roster, but he did not have a productive season in 2015 and I question if he'll even be on the roster by the start of the regular season. Justin Gilbert checked out in his two years during the Mike Pettine era, so whether Hue Jackson can get him focused is anyone's guess. The addition of Caldwell gives the team some depth to play with, but we can't say much else about him at this point.

CBS Sports' Dane Bruglar didn't have a profile in Caldwell, but pegged him as a 7th-round pick.

What do you think, Browns fans?
