2017 Mock Draft: Cleveland Browns Take QB Deshaun Watson at No. 1 Overall

Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

Even though the 2016 NFL Draft just concluded and some of us (well, me at least) are a bit brain-fried from it, some find enjoyment in taking a brief look ahead to how things might be a year from now when the Cleveland Browns will be on the clock in the 2017 NFL Draft.

How accurate are mock drafts that look a year into the future? Last year, such drafts were having the Browns taking either Connor Cook, Cardale Jones, or Christian Hackenberg at the top of the draft. Projections can certainly change drastically over the course of a year, more so for the quarterback position than the other positions. Dan Kadar of SB Nation has compiled a 2017 mock draft that has the Browns projected to have the No. 1 and No. 9 overall picks:

1. Cleveland Browns: Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson

Watson’s career arc has him hurtling toward the Heisman Trophy and being the No. 1 pick in the draft. Beyond his deep ball accuracy, he is an impressive prospect.

9. Cleveland Browns (via Philadelphia): Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU

Fournette is a powerhouse running back who throws defenders around with ease. He’s built for the AFC North.

On paper, both picks would seem to help electrify the Browns' offense. They also make sense position wise, considering the team didn't do anything to address the running back position in 2016 despite having 14 draft picks, and although they selected QB Cody Kessler at the end of the third round, he is not going to prevent the team from taking a franchise quarterback in 2017.

What do you think, Browns fans? If the Browns had the No. 1 and No. 9 picks next year, would you support Deshaun Watson and Leonard Fournette, or are there other players you'd have your eye on?
