Browns sign WR Dennis Parks after recently-signed kicker appears to retire

Thomas B. Shea-USA TODAY Sports

Well...so much for Jaden Obercrom.

A few days ago, the Cleveland Browns had claimed the undrafted rookie off waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars in favor of another undrafted rookie on their roster and several kickers they had tried out at rookie minicamp. The official team site announced today that Obercrom has been placed on the reserve/retired list. There is no word on why he made the decision that he did; perhaps he caught a glimpse of two camps, already shuffling between two new cities, and decided, 'this isn't for me.'

The Browns are opting to go with one kicker, for now, but that should change relatively soon. For now, the Browns have signed undrafted free agent rookie WR Dennis Parks (6-2, 201 lbs). Parks, who played for Rice in college, originally signed with the Green Bay Packers a couple of weeks ago, but didn't last long. He joins an already-crowded and youthful wide receiver room.
