In each of our training camp previews, we conduct a poll at the end of the post. The polls are intended to gauge fan perception about certain players or roles on the Cleveland Browns heading into training camp. They help set the initial expectations that fans have on certain players. Here is a summary of each of those polls for the quarterback position:

These results turned out how I expected, with 55% of fans believing that Robert Griffin III will start the majority of the year, presumably have an adequate season, and then for the position to be re-evaluated in 2017. If the Browns carry the same Cleveland momentum that the Cavaliers started and the Indians are currently rolling with, though, who knows — maybe he’ll come out and dazzle as if he is the quarterback of the future. Only a small percentage of fans (2%) think that Josh McCown or Cody Kessler will start in Week 1. [Read Part 1 of the QB Preview]

Connor Shaw hasn’t played in two years, yet he won this poll by an overwhelming margin over Austin Davis. To be fair, Shaw has more flexibility since the team could stash him on the practice squad, while Davis would have to make the 53-man roster in order to stick with the club.
