This offseason, former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson has been singing the praises of Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson. He’s also been lobbying since the beginning of May to get some form of a coaching gig with the team’s wide receivers:
@Browns When do I get to work w/ the receivers on route running & getting open 24/7?

Later that day, in responding to a fan’s question, Johnson said, “I train receivers but the Browns have yet to tweet me back.” By mid-May, Johnson tweeted that he had touched base with Jackson:
I talked w/ Hue Jackson Tuesday in length, I don't think the Browns organization let alone fan base understand the GEM that's before them.

On Monday, he said he was going to ask the Browns to join the staff as a “route running specialist.” Today, he indicating that he will be in Cleveland come training camp to provide some knowledge:
Gonna ask Hue if I can join the Browns coaching staff as a "route running specialist" assistant receiver coach, what's the worse he can say.

What a blessing Hue Jackson is, see y'all in Cleveland on the 28th, no cleats this time just knowledge

The Browns have confirmed that Johnson has been invited to camp to "spend some time with their receivers." The team will already have former Browns running back Earnest Byner in camp to continue working with the backs.
