If you were saddened to think that Connor Shaw’s NFL career might be over after the Cleveland Browns waived him, then fear not — the Chicago Bears were awarded him off waivers on Friday.
Chicago has five quarterbacks in camp now, with two of them being former Browns: Shaw, and also Brian Hoyer. The connection to Chicago could be the fact that Dowell Loggains, who was Cleveland’s quarterbacks coach in 2014, is now the Bears’ offensive coordinator.
The interest in Shaw didn’t stop at Chicago. In fact, the Saints were so excited to place a waiver claim on Shaw that they accidentally emailed all 31 teams in the NFL proclaiming that they were doing so:
Some July 1 NFL intrigue. Saints (accidentally?) leaked they were putting waiver claim in for Connor Shaw. Bears jump in and get him first.

Apparently sent email to every NFL team instead of just NFL personnel office.... https://t.co/64tPkaZRz3

No word has come in yet regarding who the Browns will add to fill Shaw’s roster spot.
