Atlanta Falcons vs. Cleveland Browns - 3rd Quarter Game Thread

NFL: Preseason-Atlanta Falcons at Cleveland Browns Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

The Falcons missed a 48-yard field goal to begin the second quarter, and the Browns were then able to capitalize with a good drive that ended with a picture-perfect 29-yard connection between Robert Griffin III and Gary Barnidge (watch it here) to give Cleveland a 13-7 lead. Travis Coons missed the PAT. Both teams then proceeded to have a couple of lackluster possessions, including one where the Browns had Cameron Erving snap a ball way over Griffin’s head.

With Matt Schaub in the game now, the Falcons put together a seven-minute drive to close out the first half. A penalty nullified a touchdown run, and then pressure from Danny Shelton and Carl Nassib forced Atlanta to settle for a 30-yard field goal to make it a 13-10 game. That’s where we stand heading into the third quarter of play, where we’ll see Josh McCown in action.
