Cleveland Browns vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - 2nd Quarter Game Thread

NFL: Preseason-Cleveland Browns at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

The Buccaneers received the ball to begin the game and put together a couple of positive plays to get into field goal range, but a third-down pass breakup by CB Justin Gilbert forced them to settle for a 48-yard field goal to take a 3-0 lead.

When Cleveland’s offense took over, the euphoric feeling set in pretty quickly. On 3rd-and-8, QB Robert Griffin III hit WR Josh Gordon down the sideline for a 44-yard gain. On the next play, it was a 7-yard screen pass to WR Terrelle Pryor. The drive stalled a bit after that, but Cleveland still hit a 35-yard field goal by K Patrick Murray to tie the game at 3-3.

Cleveland’s defense continued playing poorly on the next drive, as they allowed Tampa Bay to drive 12 plays for 82 yards, with the drive being capped off by a 3-yard touchdown pass from QB Jameis Winston to RB Charles Sims. That gave the Buccaneers a 10-3 lead. The Browns went three-and-out on their next series and punted right back to Tampa Bay. On the punt, the Buccaneers returned it 52 yard for a touchdown to take a 17-3 lead. Cleveland has the ball heading into the second quarter.
