What to expect from today’s Orange and Brown Scrimmage in Columbus

The annual Orange and Brown Scrimmage (sometimes known as the Family Day event), kicks off at 3:00 PM in Columbus today and is expected to run through 5:30 PM.

How to Watch

If you are not in attendance at Ohio Stadium, there will be a live stream of the event, anchored by Nathan Zegura and Matt Wilhelm. There are three ways to view the stream:

After the scrimmage is over, we’ll post our recap of the day’s events, just like we’ve been doing for everything that’s been going on in Berea (i.e. see our Friday recap here).

What to Expect

The Browns held their most physical practice of camp on Friday, which is where the “true” scrimmage atmosphere took place. Saturday’s practice at Ohio Stadium will more so try to simulate the flow of a game, such as pre-game warm-ups, calling plays from the sideline, and maybe the timing aspect from quarter-to-quarter. Head coach Hue Jackson referred to it as a “mock game:”

“A mock game will really prepare our team for next Friday’s exhibition game at Green Bay. We’ll go through all the different situations that may happen in the game from pre-game to halftime to starting the second half. I think it’s really important we find out how we go through that process.”

Weather Forecast

The weather should be very nice for Browns fans with no threat of rain:

Who’s Not Practicing?

The following players are not expected to practice on Saturday:

  • FB Malcolm Johnson (concussion)
  • WR Josh Gordon (quad)
  • WR Andrew Hawkins (hamstring)
  • TE Seth DeValve (hamstring)
  • TE Randall Telfer (knee)
  • C Cameron Erving (elbow)
  • DE John Hughes (personal)
  • DL Kyle Rose (hamstring)
  • DL Nile Lawrence-Stample (shoulder)
  • CB Joe Haden (ankle)
  • CB Trey Caldwell (hamstring)

LT Joe Thomas has been getting every other day off of practice, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see he, and possibly guys like TE Gary Barnidge, OLB Paul Kruger, and CB Tramon Williams, get the day off.

Pre-Event Information

A pre-scrimmage party takes place from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, including food trucks, live on-stage music, alumni autograph signings, extreme games, photo opportunities with Swagger, a Play60 zone, Browns Backers and Season Ticket events, Giant Eagle product sampling, giveaways, and more.
