The Browns got another touchdown pass to start the second quarter; this one went from QB Robert Griffin III to TE Gary Barnidge from 4 yards out to make it a 14-0 game. When the Browns were driving for another score, Griffin’s pass to the end zone was picked off by the dropping linebacker, setting Pittsburgh up at their own 1 yard line.
Cleveland’s defense held and forced a punt from the 1 yard line, so the Browns got to try a two-minute drill. On the first play, C Anthony Fabiano had a high snap that went over Griffin’s head and Pittsburgh recovered. Down in the red zone, a missed tackle by OLB Jamie Collins allowed RB DeAngelo Williams to score on an 11-yard pass from QB Landry Jones. The Browns lead 14-7 at the half.
