Despite the need for a quarterback and having the No. 1 overall pick, Dan Kadar of SB Nation is still going heavy on defense in his latest 2017 NFL Mock Draft. He cites the team’s key needs as quarterback, pass rush, safety, outside linebacker, cornerback, and offensive line. That’s a lot of key needs; most of the good teams only have three or four needs listed.

Kadar mocked the Browns to take DE Myles Garrett at No. 1 overall and S Jabrill Peppers at No. 12 overall. While Kadar acknowledges the team’s need for a quarterback, he thinks they could still pursue their franchise option via a trade:

The needs for the Browns are endless. Quarterback is the big one, but acquiring someone like Jimmy Garoppolo or A.J. McCarron via a trade are possibilities. Emmanuel Ogbah looks like a good end, but the Browns need a player to go with him. Both safety spots should be in play with new defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. Cornerback becomes an even greater need if Joe Haden is released this offseason. Offensive line in general for the Browns is iffy at center, right guard and right tackle.

If the Browns pass on one of the top three quarterbacks at No. 1, you can forget about getting them in the second round. Heck, you can even forget about getting them at No. 12 overall, as Kadar has Mitch Trubisky going No. 2 to the 49ers, Deshaun Watson going No. 3 to the Bears, and DeShone Kizer going No. 6 to the Jets.
