If you connect the dots, a former Browns player may have just unveiled who the team’s new secondary coach will be. Friday afternoon, Jaguars safety Tashaun Gipson tweeted the following:
Cleveland got a legit one! Congrats coach Walk!! Major!!
— Tashaun J. Gipson SR (@Gipson_duos24) January 13, 2017
In the event he deletes it later on, the tweet reads, “Cleveland got a legit one! Congrats coach Walk!! Major!!”
The Jaguars’ defensive backs coach for the past four years has been DeWayne Walker, which fits Gipson’s reference. Walker was also a defensive backs coach for the Washington Redskins from 2004-2005, a span that overlapped when Gregg Williams was with the team as their defensive coordinator.
If the move ends up happening, it would seem to be a lateral one. The Jaguars changed head coaches this offseason, though, so they may have granted assistants permission to seek jobs elsewhere if they desired.
