Update: the deadline passed, and the team retained the rights to Josh Gordon.
The NFL trade deadline is fast approaching at 4:00 PM today, and shortly after noon, someone spotted Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon in New York, speculating whether he could be seeking reinstatement to the league.
A little later, ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed via a source that Gordon is meeting with the NFL on Wednesday. That’s the semi-exciting news. The not-so-hot news? Schefter says that Cleveland “could be looking to trade his rights” by today’s deadline.

This would be a ridiculous trade if it were made. Gordon is absurdly more talented than any receiver on the roster. Some may argue that it doesn’t matter because he’s not seeing the field anyway with all these suspensions, but I maintain the stance that his upside is that good that you hold out for that glimmer of home.
We’ll update this post if any more news comes out prior to the deadline.
Posted has been updated to reflect Schefter’s note that Gordon will meet with the league on Wednesday, not Tuesday.
