I knew ownership would have to be livid after the trade deadline on Tuesday when the team failed to file paperwork to the NFL to complete a trade for A.J. McCarron. We won’t rehash all of the details on the story so far, since we did that this morning. But Wednesday night, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk confirmed that ownership, and specifically Dee Haslam, went “nuclear” on the Browns’ front office:
Per a league source, [on Wednesday] ownership (specifically Dee Haslam) went “nuclear” on the front office in the aftermath of the failed effort to consummate a trade for Bengals quarterback A.J. McCarron. The reaction comes even as the Browns spent much of Wednesday trying to persuade multiple media members that the Browns didn’t screw up the trade that was indeed screwed up.
In addition, Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 the Fan added that Jimmy Haslam was irate Tuesday afternoon:
This is 100% accurate. Jimmy Haslam was irate Tuesday afternoon https://t.co/RHnKFOFAMs

The predicament? Even though this is very much a fireable offense, the Haslams have preached patience and seeing this plan through to the end. Hitting the abort button in the middle of year number two probably isn’t the route they want to go down yet.
