On Monday, the Cleveland Browns announced that they have claimed safety Tyvis Powell off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks.
Powell, who many Browns fans will know since he played college at Ohio State, was given a 4th-5th round draft grade by CBS Sports leading up to last year’s draft, and the Browns had shown interest in him prior to the draft. Ultimately, he ended up going undrafted.
Powerll logged 11 tackles and 1 interception for the Seahawks last preseason. However, during the regular season, he only had an off-and-on role on special teams. In 8 games, he had just 3 tackles. Growing up in Bedford, it sounds like Powell will be living the childhood dream, at least for a portion of this offseason:
I have never covered a player who was as vocal a fan of a team as Tyvis Powell was of the Browns. And now he's a Brown.

The safety position was a liability for the Browns for much of 2016 and should be one of the top positions they look to address this offseason.
