Remember when Cleveland Browns fans were devastated by the Rams-Redskins trade in 2012 that allowed Washington to make QB Robert Griffin III the No. 2 overall pick of the draft?

After things didn’t quite work out in Washington, Cleveland fans had their glimpse at “what could have been” last year when new head coach Hue Jackson decided after one workout that RGIII was going to be his reclamation project. After a pretty good offseason, Griffin suffered a shoulder injury that landed him on IR after Week 1. He did return to start the final four games, assisting in Cleveland getting their only victory of the season. But now, his time in Cleveland has come to an end.

Due a $750,000 roster bonus on Saturday, the Browns have decided to release Griffin, allowing for about $6.9 million in cap space to be cleared. The transaction will become official some time on Friday, according to multiple reports.

Right now, signs are pointing to the Browns finding a quarterback in the 2017 NFL Draft.
