According to Chris Tomasson, who covers the Vikings for the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the Cleveland Browns are one of five teams who are in the mix for free agent wide receiver Rod Streater:
Source says #Vikings looking at free-agent WR Rod Streater, although nothing imminent. Indy, Seattle, Cleveland and incumbent SF also in mix
— Chris Tomasson (@christomasson) March 22, 2017
Streater signed with the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2012, one year after Hue Jackson was dismissed from the team. In 2013, he started 14 games and enjoyed some success, catching 60 passes for 888 yards and 4 touchdowns. After starting 3 games in 2014, he suffered a foot injury and was placed on injured reserve. The team then opted not to play him in favor of other players in 2015.
Last offseason, Streater signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs, but was traded to the 49ers at the start of training camp. Streater didn't see a lot of action for the 49ers last year, catching 18 passes for 191 yards and 2 touchdowns.
To an extent, you can draw some parallels to the career trajectories for Streater and Kamar Aiken, another receiver Cleveland showed interest in this offseason. Aiken signed a one-year deal with the Colts this week.
