[THURSDAY'S 1ST ROUND NFL DRAFT LIVE BLOG HAS A NEW THREAD]

The 2017 NFL Draft officially begins for the Cleveland Browns and the rest of the teams in the NFL at 8:00 PM ET. This is a continuation of the LIVE BLOG we've been running all day up until this point. Now that we are less than an hour away from things kicking off, it is fitting to start fresh with our live blog. You should also use the comments section as your NFL Draft open thread! (Newest updates will be at the top of the live blog below)

NOTE: Do not spoil picks before they are announced by Roger Goodell. If you do, you risk a temporary banning.

Browns NFL Draft Live Blog

[NOTE: There is a new live blog / open thread available here for the first round]

8:59 PM: The Chargers pulled off a stunned by selecting WR Mike Williams at No. 7 overall! I would’ve never guessed that two wide receivers would go as early as they have.

8:52 PM: The Jets stayed at No. 6 overall to select S Jamal Adams. That’s one defensive back off the board. Also, an update on Cousins: Rapoport on the air said that he doesn’t think Washington would be interested in trading Cousins.

8:48 PM: What in the world! The Browns are trying to trade for QB Kirk Cousins, per Ian Rapoport:

8:43 PM: The Titans ended up staying at No. 5, where they selected WR Corey Davis! I certainly didn’t expect wide receivers to be going very high this year, let alone at No. 5 overall! All of the top defensive backs are still available as the Jets are now on the clock at No. 6.

8:35 PM: The Jaguars took RB Leonard Fournette with the 4th overall pick. The Titans are up now at No. 5, and is a team Cleveland was rumored to possibly execute a trade with if they wanted to move up.

8:30 PM: The 49ers took DE Solomon Thomas with the 3rd overall pick. But getting back to the Browns quickly, Ben Albright on Twitter says that “now we know why the Browns kept floating the interest in Trubisky out there.” He says they were trying to entice the Bears to trade up to No. 1 overall, because they knew Chicago was going to take Trubisky. Obviously, Cleveland didn’t think they could still get Garrett at No. 3 over the 49ers, so San Francisco had to be the team that reaped the benefits.

8:22 PM: WOW! The Bears picked QB Mitchell Trubisky at No. 2 overall! I’m 2-for-2 in terms of the order of my mock draft picks, but I obviously didn’t see this trade coming. The 49ers are back on the clock.

8:21 PM: Gotta love the Browns’ Twitter feed playing off of all the memes after taking Garrett:

8:18 PM: The Bears traded up to No. 2, flipping picks with the 49ers. Here are the details of the trade:

8:15 PM: With the 1st overall pick, the Cleveland Browns picked DE Myles Garrett! Whew. Our write-up on the selection is here; there is also a poll for you to vote on the pick!

8:04 PM: Are you ready!?! Here is a shot of the Browns’ war room. Hue Jackson and Sashi Brown are across from each other, with Andrew Berry and Paul DePodesta beside them. Jimmy and Dee Haslam, along with Jimmy Sr and Jim Brown, are in the room too.

7:51 PM: Man, time is flying, at least for me! Hue Jackson was just on the NFL Network being interviewed by Mike Silver. He headed back to the war room right afterward, but did tell Silver that while they do need a QB, “they’re going to let the QB come to them.”

7:24 PM: And there’s our guy! Even though he’s not attending the NFL Draft, he’s not going on a fishing trip like LT Joe Thomas did.

7:17 PM: From the News Herald, Jeff Schudel says that he’s hearing if the Browns trade up from No. 12, it could be for QB Patrick Mahomes instead of QB Mitchell Trubisky.

7:12 PM: Something that perhaps we haven’t focused on so much: while there was speculation about what the Browns would do at No. 1 overall (which seems to be resolved), I think nobody knows what the heck is going to happen with all of the picks after Cleveland either. This could be a crazy draft.

7:00 PM: You can quickly catch up on all of today's live blog from before 7:00 PM right here. The Cleveland Browns have the No. 1 and No. 12 overall picks, and about an hour ago, word came down from SB Nation that the Browns have informed DE Myles Garrett that he will be the No. 1 pick.

Cleveland could still be trying to trade up for another prospect (some say it is for QB Mitchell Trubisky, but I think it could be for S Malik Hooker). Teams have ten minutes to make their first-round picks.

I think the Browns are in the front, far away from the photo above. And I missed this earlier, but the Browns posted a couple of photos of their draft table and my beloved M&Ms!
