It is Saturday, and that means rounds 4-7 of the 2017 NFL Draft will take place for the Cleveland Browns and the rest of the teams in the NFL. The action starts at 12:00 PM ET, and teams will have 5 minutes to make their selections (supplemental picks will last 4 minutes).

We will have all of your Browns-related coverage on the draft here at Dawgs By Nature throughout the weekend. There will be individual posts about each draft pick that Cleveland makes, or any other relevant news. This thread will act as a "live blog" of sorts, with short one-liners about the latest small rumors, picks, or trades involving Cleveland or other NFL teams. You should also use the comments section as your NFL Draft open thread! (Newest updates will be at the top of the live blog below)

Browns NFL Draft Live Blog

7:15 PM: That concludes our live blog for the weekend! Now, we encourage you to head on over to our undrafted free agent tracker for the Browns.

7:10 PM: With their final pick in the 7th round, the Cleveland Browns picked RB Matthew Dayes at No. 252 overall. Our writeup and poll on him are here.

6:03 PM: With their first pick of the 7th round at No. 224, the Browns picked K Zane Gonzalez. Our poll and writeup are here.

4:44 PM: The Browns made a dangerous pick to begin the 6th round, taking DT Caleb Brantley at No. 185. Our writeup and poll on him are here. The Browns will cut him if further investigation does not turn out well. This is purely a shot in the dark pick.

3:01 PM: The Browns are holding a press conference for their Day 2 picks right now:

2:55 PM: So after the most recent trade, here is an updated look at the Browns’ remaining draft picks this year:

  • 6th Round: No. 185 overall (1st of the round)
  • 7th Round: No. 224 overall (6th of the round)
  • 7th Round: No. 252 overall (next to last overall)

2:51 PM: More trade action for the Browns. They moved up in the fifth round to pick at No. 160, where they selected OT Roderick Johnson. Our write-up and poll on him are here. We’ll discuss the trade parameters and remaining picks in a second.

2:17 PM: The Browns are not up for another 30 picks, but as of this update, here are the top 5 players remaining, per CBS Sports’ Dane Brugler (and just after I posted it, King is off the board to the Chargers).

1:35 PM: We’re not discussing many other picks, but we have to highlight this one: the Pittsburgh Steelers landed QB Joshua Dobbs:

1:32 PM: Despite not being on our pre-draft interest tracker for the Browns, CB Howard Wilson said he had a private workout with the team. Here is the live analysis on the pick from PFF:

In a draft where they have made plenty of splashes, the Browns move up to grab the Houston cornerback. Wilson allowed an average of just 2.6 yards after the catch lasts season, tied for seventh-best in this draft class.

1:18 PM: After the trade, the Browns have the following picks remaining today:

  • 5th Round: No. 181 overall (37th of the round)
  • 6th Round: No. 185 overall (1st of the round)
  • 6th Round: No. 188 overall (4th of the round)
  • 7th Round: No. 252 overall (next to last overall)

In essence, the earlier trade saw the Browns give up their first two picks in the fifth round for a fourth round pick (and the closest we could get to Mr. Irrelevant).

1:15 PM: We’ve got our first Browns-related action of the day! The Browns traded up into the fourth round to select CB Howard Wilson at No. 126 overall. Our write-up and poll are here. Here are the details of the trade:

12:04 PM: Over at the MMQB, Albert Breer talks about the Browns’ successful draft so far. They were particularly praised for how they handled the quarterback situation, and by not overreacting to trade up for a QB:

So the Browns basically punt on this year’s quarterback class, and come away with arguably the most physically gifted guy in the bunch. If Kizer—thought to be a potential top-five pick early in the fall—works out, great. If not, they didn’t exactly blow up the treasure trove of capital they’ve built, which seemed to be the idea as Cleveland adjusted to making a QB its fourth pick, rather than its first or second.

11:59 AM: Here is something fun to look back at: right after the 2016 NFL Draft ended last year, SB Nation's Dan Kadar posted a 2017 NFL Mock Draft. In it, he had the Browns taking QB Deshaun Watson at No. 1 overall and RB Leonard Fournette at No. 9. At that time, DE Myles Garrett was project to go No. 13 with S Jabrill Peppers at No. 23. We’ll peak at Kadar’s 2018 NFL Mock Draft on Sunday.

11:52 AM: Per SB Nation, these are the top available players: DE Carl Lawson, DL Caleb Brantley, CB Desmond King, WR Chad Hansen, DT Carlos Watkins, OG Dorian Johnson, TE Bucky Hodges, RB Samaje Perine, OT Roderick Johnson, OT Adam Bisnowaty, DE Ejuan Price, TE Jordan Leggett, CB Corn Elder, DT Jaleel Johnson, WR Dede Westbrook.

Pro Football Focus also has their list of best available prospects. One player Browns fans may have their eyes on is S Xavier Woods.

11:45 AM: Remember our Browns' interest / visit tracker leading up to the draft? Here is an updated version below, listing the players that are remaining heading into round four. I will not be updating it as Day 3 goes along.

How accurate is the tracker? If you go back to our original tracker, three of the team’s five draft picks appeared on it, including QB DeShone Kizer, TE David Njoku, and DE Myles Garrett.
