The Cleveland Browns signed DE Myles Garrett on Friday. He was one of two Browns players to sign on Friday, which means the team has now signed seven members of their ten-man draft class.
Taken in the 1st round at No. 1 overall, Garrett’s contract details are largely available already: it’s a four-year deal (with a fifth-year option) worth $30.412 million fully guaranteed. $20.258 million of his contract comes in the form of a signing bonus. Per OverTheCap's pre-determined draft chart, his cap hit in 2017 will be roughly $5.53 million.
Per Mary Kay Cabot of the Plain Dealer, there is also no offset language in Garrett’s contract, which means if Cleveland cut him before year three, for example, and another team signed him, that would be new money for him as opposed to Cleveland’s remaining commitment being offset by the new team.
Garrett was the team’s only defensive end picked, and the first of their three first-round picks. He is 6-4, 272-pounds and played college football at Texas A&M. Garrett will wear No. 95 with the Browns.
