Two weeks ago, the Cleveland Browns announced the signing of K Brett Maher, an undrafted free agent from 2013 who had found a home in the CFL as both a kicker and a punter.

On Tuesday, the team announced his release, a move which seemed likely after K Zane Gonzalez was a 7th round draft pick this past Saturday. Gonzalez is expected to compete with incumbent Cody Parkey.

A seldom-remembered fact might be that the team's kicker to begin the 2016 season was Patrick Murray, but he suffered an injury after two games and was waived-injured in December.

Releasing Maher brought the Browns’ roster to 78 players, and then on Thursday, the team officially announced the signing of 11 undrafted free agents. They should still have one roster spot open before they are at the limit of 90 players.
