Browns-Saints 2017 TV schedule, channel, start time, and more

A list of all local affiliates the game will air on, when the NFL Network will re-broadcast it, and other interesting nuggets.

First, a few quick hitters to keep in mind before the game:

  • TE David Njoku has been ruled out with a back injury.
  • There are five key position battles to look out for, including the QB competition, niche wide receiver roles, the tight ends in absence of Njoku, and the second-string defensive line and safeties.
  • Believe it or not, the Saints have Adrian Peterson on their team. I had forgotten about that until earlier this week.

Tonight, the Browns are at home to take on the Saints in their first preseason game of the year. Here are some nuggets about Thursday's contest, as well as how you can watch or listen to the game.

-Locally, “Building the Browns” will air on WEWS (Channel 5) at 7:00 PM, followed by the Pregame Show at 7:30 PM. The pregame show will feature Andy Baskin, Nathan Zegura, Matt Wilhelm, Dustin Fox, Hanford Dixon, and Bernie Kosar.


-Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams held the same position with the Saints from 2009-11. ... Linebackers coach Blake Williams was an offensive assistant for the Saints in 2009, before becoming the team’s assistant linebackers coach from 2010-11. ... Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr. served as the Browns tight ends coach/offensive assistant in 2000.


-DL Carl Nassib (Browns) and QB Ryan Nassib (Saints) are brothers. ... Saints WR Ted Ginn and CB Marshon Lattimore are natives of Cleveland and played at Glenville High School. ... Former Browns LB Craig Robertson now plays for the Saints.

-These two teams last squared off on September 14, 2014, when QB Brian Hoyer became a legend with a floating throw to a wide open WR Andrew Hawkins, setting up a game-winning 29-yard field goal by K Billy Cundiff, as Cleveland prevailed 26-24. These teams have not faced each other in the preseason since 1982, a game that featured QB Brian Sipe.
