Rapoport: Osweiler can lock up Browns’ starting QB job tonight, thanks to veteran support

A good performance could lock up the starting job for Brock.

An hour before the start of the Browns’ second preseason game against the Giants on national TV, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network said that the majority of veterans on the club believe Brock Osweiler is the guy who should be under center Week 1, and a solid performance tonight will seal the deal:

As I said in my preview leading up to the game, though, it’ll be tough for Osweiler to have a good statistical day since he’ll be subjected to a rookie left tackle against some tough pass rushers. Head coach Hue Jackson also wants to see DeShone Kizer in the first half this week, which will limit the amount of series Osweiler has to get going.
