Just two days ago, we were wondering if the Cleveland Browns could ship QB Brock Osweiler to the Miami Dolphins after a recent injury to starting QB Ryan Tannehill. Given Osweiler’s connection to Dolphins head coach Adam Gase, a move seemed to make perfect sense. But now, that rumor is dead-in-the-water.
Jay Cutler pulled off the perfect retirement ploy this offseason. After calling it quits, he walked into a fairly high-profile analyst role with FOX, but in reality, he was waiting in the wings for an opportunity just like this. At the end of the day, Cutler gets what translates to a 1-year, $10 million deal from the Dolphins to be their starting quarterback in 2017.
Specifics of #Dolphins QB Jay Cutler's contract: 1 year, $5M base, $5M in bonuses, up to $3M more in incentives.

Miami was willing to go get their guy to not let the season be a wash before it could even get started. Had Cutler not been an option, I do think Osweiler might’ve been a consideration by the Dolphins. However, what’s funny is the crazy twist developing in Cleveland: fans are starting to embrace him as the team’s starting option in 2017.

In a poll ran on Sunday morning, a stunning 87% of fans indicated that Osweiler should be the Browns’ starting quarterback. Hue Jackson is going to name the Week 1 preseason starter on Monday, and the media is split on whether he’ll pick Osweiler or rookie DeShone Kizer. I’d put my money on it being Osweiler...but I’m not kidding when I say that this fanbase-wide change in opinion on Osweiler developed over a span of two days.
