Browns make 18 roster cuts to get down to 65 players

UPDATE: In addition to the official cuts below, sources have told reporters that QB Brock Osweiler, OL John Greco, DL Xavier Cooper, and K Cody Parkey have all been cut. We’ve got stories on each of them in our live roster cuts tracker.

Friday afternoon, the Cleveland Browns trimmed their roster from 83 players to 65 players by announcing the following transactions:

OFFENSIVE PLAYERS CUT

• RB Brandon Wilds (injury designation)
• WR Josh Boyce (contract terminated)
• WR Mario Alford
• WR Richard Mullaney
• WR Rasheed Bailey
• TE Taylor McNamara
• TE Nate Iese
• OL Kitt O’Brien

DEFENSIVE PLAYERS CUT

• DL Karter Schult
• DL Brandon Thompson (contract terminated)
• LB B.J. Bello
• LB Ladell Fleming
• CB Trey Caldwell
• CB Channing Stribling
• CB Alvin Hill
• S J.D. Harmon
• S Christian Bryant

OTHER MOVES

• CB Howard Wilson played on Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP)

REACTION

The only player we had making our 53-man roster was DL Karter Schult, but he was a late replacement after a couple of strong preseason games, and we know the team is stacked at defensive line. The team might opt to keep draft pick Caleb Brantley instead.

The team will need to make 12 more cuts before the 4 PM ET deadline on Saturday. It’s worth noting that both kickers are still on the roster, as is QB Brock Osweiler.
