For the second year in a row, the Cleveland Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers conducted business with each other before final roster cuts were due. On Saturday, the Browns acquired WR Sammie Coates and a 7th round draft pick in 2019 from the Steelers. In return, Pittsburgh receivers the 2018 6th round pick...which Cleveland had acquired last year when they traded CB Justin Gilbert to Pittsburgh!
The Browns were seeking another receiving option after not being content with the players after Corey Coleman and Kenny Britt this camp. Coates (6-1, 212 lbs) is in his third season. A third-round pick in 2015, Coates was practically red-shirted as a rookie. In 2016, he caught 21 passes for 435 yards and 2 touchdowns.
