The Cleveland Browns announced the additions of three more players to their practice squad, bringing the unit’s total to nine.
Receiver Rashard Higgins, safety Kai Nacua and cornerback Darius Hillary all signed with the team after spending the offseason and preseason on the roster. Higgins was a fifth-round pick in 2016 and played 15 games for the team last season, Hillary spent nine weeks on the team’s practice squad, and Nacua signed as an undrafted free agent after the 2017 draft.
It’s worth noting that offseason standout Tyrone Holmes is not on the squad, at least not yet, and hasn’t signed elsewhere. Holmes was one of the team’s highest graded players during preseason, per Pro Football Focus.

It’s possible other teams have made inquiries and are trying to pull him from Cleveland, but that’s purely speculation at this point.
Of course, the Browns could also be posturing to sign Holmes to their active roster after personnel management decides on which of its four quarterbacks they are comfortable parting ways with. Unless they decide to begin the season with four, which is unlikely.
We’ll probably see the practice squad and bottom of the roster take shape by Wednesday, considering the team will be installing the game plan for their Week 1 matchup against Pittsburgh.
