Here is a summary of how the Cleveland Browns are viewed across mainstream media outlets in NFL Power Rankings heading into Week 13.
CBS Sports - No. 21 (up 3 spots)
Baker Mayfield is playing outstanding football and they have a future star runner in Nick Chubb. Next year will be fun.
SB Nation - No. 19 (up 4 spots)
The Browns also entered the top 20 after their win over the Bengals that may just signal the end of Cleveland’s time as the laughing stock of the AFC North. The Browns have beaten the Ravens and Bengals and tied with the Steelers this season. The last time the Browns had two division wins was 2014 when they beat the Bengals once and Steelers once.
NFL.com - No. 18 (up 4 spots)
If you happened to watch “The Power Rankings Show” last Tuesday (on NFL Network every Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET), you might have noticed that one of the two analysts not named James Jones predicted Baker Mayfield accounting for four touchdowns against the Bengals. And, well, he did! As for the defensive side of things, major props to Myles Garrett, who was a terror late in Sunday’s win over the Bengals, getting a big sack, then causing a false start (through sheer left tackle terror) that turned a third-and-3 into a third-and-8, which Cincy ultimately couldn’t convert. Felt for Hue Jackson. His look was that of a guy who knows he wasn’t the best boyfriend in his last relationship, then sees his ex with a guy in a brown turtleneck, parking (then re-parking) his Range Rover in front of his favorite club.
MMQB - No. 23 (up 4 spots)
The Browns are one of the few teams here at the bottom that should be really excited about wins. Things are legitimately exciting right now. They scored 28 points in the first half for the first time since 1991. They won on the road for the first time in 26 tries. They’re talking playoffs. Crazier things have [probably] happened?
Yahoo Sports - No. 20 (up 4 spots)
Baker Mayfield made some tremendous plays on Sunday. He was going to throw for more than 400 yards and maybe five or six touchdowns if the game against the Bengals was competitive for the final quarter and a half. He doesn’t look like a rookie. He’s the star the Browns have desperately been looking for.
ESPN - No. 23 (up 2 spots)
Toughest game left: Week 13 at Houston. The Texans have won eight in a row after an 0-3 start. Deshaun Watson, DeAndre Hopkins and J.J. Watt are a potent trio. The Browns have made progress against some of the lower-ranked defenses the past few games, but against Houston they face the league’s sixth-ranked defense on the road.
Associated Press - No. 20 (up 4 spots)
