Running backs don’t have a long shelf life in the NFL, but Frank Gore has still been chugging along after all these years. But now, the Indianapolis Colts are ready to move on from him after three years with the club, and Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network notes that the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns “are potential suitors for Gore.”
Gore has played 13 seasons, and believe it or not, he has played in every game since 2011 and started, starting 111 of 112 games during that stretch, including every one he was with the Colts. He averaged less than 4.0 yards per carry in each of this three years with the Colts, but that was behind a very rough offensive line. There’s reason to believe he still has a good amount of mileage left in the tank. With Cleveland likely letting RB Isaiah Crowell hit free agency and already having talked to free agent RB Chris Ivory this week, it seems like quarterback isn’t the only position the team is looking to add a “veteran” piece to.
Gore is not yet a free agent, so teams can’t talk to him until the legal tampering period opens on March 12. Would you be a fan of the Browns signing Gore?
