According to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, the FOX network had Cleveland Browns left tackle Joe Thomas in for auditions recently, and he was “particularly impressive.” No kidding, if you’ve heard the ThomaHawk podcast and all of the other local media ventures he’s taken on over the past two years:
The network had current Browns lineman Joe Thomas and former Bears coach John Fox in for auditions, according to sources. Thomas was particularly impressive, according to one source. The two are being considered for a variety of roles on both Fox and Fox Sports 1. Thomas also went through the ESPN “Car Wash” this offseason, which often is used as a tryout of sorts, so don’t rule out Bristol. Thomas has not decided yet if he will play next season.
One might panic and wonder if this means Thomas is not returning this season, but I would hold the phone on that. For now, he could just be auditioning for an offseason role to help get his foot in the door before taking on a greater role whenever he retires.
The article also mentions how FOX is eyeing Peyton Manning to have a role on their Thursday Night Football package.
